There are a few ways to incorporate your nature loving self into your jewelry wearing and buying habits. First: ask your jeweler if they incorporate recycling metal into their practices. Sprucing...of your jewelry

I am in New Zealand currently. Both racing at the 2017 World Masters Games in rowing and having a holiday. Which reminds me- sometimes metal goes funny. Because it is reactive- to acids, to bases, to minerals. I especially was reminded of this when I purposefully wore my silver in the mineral baths in Rotarua, which I was warned against doing but thought it a fun experiment. High sulfur and acid content= lovely blackened silver. It also happens on very sweaty acidic skin. My sterling silver at fist looked gold, and now has a lovely darkened coppery tone. No problemo...

The Truth About Nickel and Silver Allergies and How to Cope

Of late, more and more folks are coming in with ring rot, without the usually cause of white gold ring.  We are seeing platinum rings that fit comfortably, that are still resulting in an allergic reaction on the wearer's finger.  Luckily, one of these customers actually went to a dermatologist and got tested to see what she was allergic to.  It was 2 very multi-syllabic chemical words...found in soap!  So hand washing is great, but if you have a sensitive system (see above re digestive health) then you might want to steer well clear of the chemical-laden soaps that are everywhere.  Maybe just try good old baking soda-coconut oil-tea tree oil combo? It's anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and artificial chemical-free.  When you wash your hands and synthetic chemicals get caught within the backside of your ring, you too might have a reaction.  It's an easy fix, either way :o)
