Second Toes

For today, just the 2nd toe. This toe is also known as index toe or pointer toe. When it hurts (when anything in our bodies hurts!) it means something is imbalanced. How do we fix this imbalance?  My toe randomly hurts which is frustrating and uncomfortable, so most of us rail against our suddenly painful body part. It hurts to walk. We are innocent in that we did nothing physical to cause the pain. So we get po'd at our toe and set into self pity and loss of hope. What happens?  BOTH second toes now hurt. Consulting Bach Flower body...

How to Feel Tough Feelings: Meanness

If you start to pay attention to your 1) thoughts , your 2) reactions and your consequent 3) body responses, you’ll notice that for every emotion and event that you are resistant to, your body has a sympathetic response. Healing from emotional pain, from physical pain, from carrying excess body weight, from denying yourself proper nutrition, from over reacting to little things, from trauma.  Healing can happen once we allow ourselves complete ownership of our feelings.  They can be embarrassing feelings or shameful feelings or dirty secret feelings that you think should never see the light of day. Except all those feelings stay within us if we don't let them out.START:  If you want to heal, intend to feel better.  Intend to see yourself and your life differently. Next, speak or write...

Losing a Loved One

Losing a Loved One

A note on grief. It’s a feeling. You cry. Let it out. Then explore why exactly you are experiencing grief. In my case, my mom has sustained a terrible car accident. Her health wasn’t the greatest to begin with so smashing herself into another car is a blow that feels nearly insurmountable. Her three children (including me) spent the week of thanksgiving in vigil, visiting the hospital, holding her hand, trying to get a response from her. My greatest grief, when I explore my sadness, is that I ever said an unkind word to her. I can’t believe I ever...
