Posted by Joanna Rubini on

What is the difference between Zircon, Zirconia and Zirconium? "Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2). The synthesized material is hard, optically flawless and usually colorless, but may be made in a variety of different colors." -Wikipedia. Zirconium oxide in nature is monolithic in its stable form under normal atmospheric conditions. Cubic Zirconia>>Good for kick around jewelry that is not necessarily worn often, or that is even worn daily but is meant to simply add sparkle without commitment and meaning, will work with CZs. They will survive best in jewelry incurring the least abrasion: earrings, pins, pendants. And storing them apart from other jewelry and abrasive items will increase their brilliance life expectancy. Given their low cost, if they do get scratched, replacement is not as dear as other sparkly stones, but also given their...
